⚠️ Important 2026 update — Thailand visa exemption reform — May 2026
The Thai Cabinet decided on 19 May 2026 to cancel the 60-day visa-free scheme. The new policy introduces a 30-day visa exemption for 54 countries (Australia, Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, UK, US, etc.) and a 15-day exemption for 3 countries (Maldives, Mauritius, Seychelles). The Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) remains mandatory and replaces the paper TM6.

Do UK Citizens Need a Visa for Thailand?
British citizens do not need a visa to visit Thailand for tourism or short business trips. Thailand grants visa-free entry for up to 60 days (extended from 30 days in November 2024). No pre-arrival authorization is required — simply arrive with a valid passport.
How to Apply
No application is needed for stays up to 60 days. On arrival, present your valid passport (6+ months validity), a return or onward ticket, and proof of accommodation. For stays beyond 60 days, apply for a Tourist Visa (TR) at thaievisa.go.th before departure.
Tips for British Travelers
- Ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended stay.
- Carry a printed return or onward ticket — immigration officers may ask for it on arrival.
- Keep THB 10,000 per person (or equivalent) in accessible funds.
- Travel insurance is not mandatory but strongly recommended.
- To extend your stay, visit any Thai Immigration Office (extension fee: THB 1,900 for 30 days).
