Egypt’s official eVisa lets eligible passport holders apply online before a tourist trip. Eligibility is based on the passport used for travel. Check the government portal before choosing an eVisa, a consular visa or any arrival-based route; these are different procedures.

Who can apply for the Egypt eVisa?
The government FAQ lists eligible nationalities, including China, France, Australia, Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States. These examples are not the complete list. Match the nationality and travel document in your application to the passport you will present at the border.
For an unlisted nationality, an emergency or other special passport, or a non-tourist purpose, ask the Egyptian consular authorities which procedure applies. Being able to read this page in English or Chinese is not evidence of eligibility. Use the official nationality list and entry checklist.

Confirm the amount on the official portal before paying. These fees are for the stated eVisa product, not a universal price for every Egyptian visa. An intermediary’s service fee is separate from the government charge.
How to apply through visa2egypt.gov.eg
- Check the passport’s eligibility in the official FAQ and choose the tourist product that matches your itinerary.
- Create an account with an email address you can access and sign in to the government portal.
- Enter passport and trip details exactly, and supply the files requested by the form.
- Review the names, passport number, travel dates and entry choice before paying by an accepted card.
- Follow the application status and emails. Once approved, download and print the eVisa.
- Travel with the same passport, the printout and the supporting documents for your actual trip.
The request to apply at least 7 days before departure is planning guidance, not a guarantee that an application will be approved within 7 days. Correcting a passport error or answering a request can take additional time.
Documents to carry on arrival
- A passport meeting the eVisa validity requirement.
- A printout of the approved eVisa.
- Your travel itinerary and hotel booking or details of the places you will visit.
- An invitation or supporting letter where your visit requires one.
The government FAQ identifies these arrival documents. Border officers can ask for evidence and retain the decision on admission even when a visa has been issued.
Visa validity is different from permitted stay
Use the validity dates, entry conditions and stay period on the issued permission. A multiple-entry eVisa does not authorise continuous residence. Do not treat the last date of visa validity as an automatic permission to remain until that date.
Is an eVisa the same as a visa on arrival?
No. An eVisa is applied for in advance through the government website. Any arrival-based facility has its own nationality, document and entry-point conditions. Confirm that separate route with the Egyptian authorities rather than assuming that eVisa eligibility guarantees an arrival visa.
Longer stays, work and extensions
The tourist eVisa is not an automatic right to employment, long-term study or residence. Contact the competent Egyptian authority before the end of your authorised stay if you need another status or an extension.
Before you pay
Is visa2egypt.gov.eg the official portal?
Yes. The portal identifies the Ministry of Interior of the Arab Republic of Egypt. Check the domain spelling before entering passport or card details.
Does paying the fee guarantee entry?
No. Payment, visa approval and admission at the border are separate stages.
