Do French Citizens Need a Visa for Mexico?

French passport holders are visa-exempt for Mexico. You can stay for up to 180 days per visit for tourism, business visits, or transit — no visa application required.

FMM Tourist Card (Forma Migratoria Múltiple)

All foreign visitors to Mexico — even those visa-exempt — must complete the Forma Migratoria Múltiple (FMM) tourist card. The fee is approximately MXN 685 (about USD 36).

• The FMM fee is usually included in the price of airline tickets to Mexico.
• If travelling by land or sea, you pay the FMM fee at the port of entry.
• Keep the FMM tear-off stub stamped in your passport — you must present it when departing Mexico.
• Losing the FMM stub may result in a fine when exiting the country.

Entry Requirements for French Citizens

• Valid passport (6 months validity recommended beyond your stay)
• Return or onward travel ticket
• Proof of sufficient funds (roughly USD 50 per day recommended)
• Completed FMM card (provided on the aircraft or at land entry)
• Accommodation details if requested by immigration officer

Extending Your Stay

If you wish to stay longer than the period granted by the immigration officer (maximum 180 days), you must leave Mexico and re-enter. Extensions inside Mexico are not routinely granted to tourists.
