Visiting Machu Picchu Means Entering Peru

Machu Picchu is a UNESCO World Heritage site located in the Cusco region of southern Peru, at 2,430 m altitude. There is no Machu Picchu visa — visitors enter Peru first, then travel to the citadel via Cusco and Aguas Calientes. Two separate documents are needed: (1) a Peruvian tourist entry stamp at the airport, and (2) a Machu Picchu citadel ticket booked online before arrival.
