For the vast majority of international travellers, entry to Hong Kong is completely free of charge. Over 170 nationalities receive visa-free access with no application, no fee and no advance registration (with the exception of the new PAR system for a small number of nationalities). Pre-arrival Registration (PAR) — Free but Mandatory
From 2025, a small number of nationalities are required to complete the free Pre-arrival Registration (PAR) at immd.gov.hk before boarding a flight to Hong Kong. The PAR itself is free. Check whether your nationality is on the PAR list — failing to register when required may result in being denied boarding or refused entry.
Visa Fees for Restricted Nationalities
Nationalities that require an advance visa must apply at a HKSAR Immigration office or a Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office. Fees vary by visa category: standard visitor visas typically cost HKD 230–460 (approximately USD 30–60). Employment Entry Permits cost significantly more at HKD 1,100–2,900.
