Visitors from visa-waiver countries (including USA, UK, EU nations, Canada, Japan and more) must obtain a New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA) before boarding their flight to New Zealand. The NZeTA is applied for at immigration.govt.nz or via the official NZeTA mobile app. It costs NZD 17 (mobile) or NZD 23 (web) plus the mandatory International Visitor Levy (IVL) of NZD 35, payable together during the application. The NZeTA is valid for 2 years and allows multiple visits of up to 90 days each.

Eligibility — Who Needs an NZeTA?
NZeTA is required for all passport holders of NZeTA-eligible countries who are travelling to Nouvelle-Zélande by air. Citizens of Australia do not need an NZeTA. If your country is not on the visa-waiver or NZeTA-eligible list, you must apply for a visitor visa. Check your eligibility on the immigration.govt.nz visa wizard before applying. Cruise passengers arriving by sea in New Zealand do not need an NZeTA.

Sante et Conditions d'Entree
- Medical exam: Required for visas with potential stays of 6+ months, or if from a high-risk TB country for any duration. Includes chest X-ray and general medical certificate. Must be performed by a panel physician approved by Immigration New Zealand.
- Vaccinations: No mandatory vaccinations for entry. Recommended: routine vaccines, Hepatitis A/B, Influenza.
- Health insurance: Not mandatory for visitors but strongly recommended. International students must have compliant medical and travel insurance.

Extension et Depassement

- Work visa (AEWV): Renewable with continued accredited employment. Apply before current visa expires.
- Student visa: Renewable with continued enrollment. Apply online or at an INZ branch.
- Working Holiday: Cannot be extended beyond the initial period. Some nationalities can apply for a second Working Holiday after completing seasonal work.
- Interim visa: Granted automatically if you apply for a new visa before your current one expires. Allows continued lawful stay.
- Overstay: Deportation and re-entry ban. Section 157 deportation liability for those who overstay or breach visa conditions.
