Cómo prorrogar tu Singapore Visa en 2026
Singapore is a compact, vibrant city-state with world-class food, architecture, and culture — but its small size means most tourists complete their visit within the standard allowed period. For those who need extra time, understanding the extension process and its limitations is important.

¿Puedes prorrogar tu Singapore Visa?
Singapore's Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) does allow short-term visit pass extensions, but approvals for tourists are rare and typically only granted under exceptional circumstances. Extensions can be applied for online via the ICA e-Service portal. However, given Singapore's relatively small geographic footprint and the ease of exiting and re-entering from Johor Bahru (Malaysia) or Batam/Bintan (Indonesia) and returning, most travellers find it simpler and more reliable to exit and re-enter for a fresh visit pass (usually 30 days). Note that Singapore immigration officers may question travellers who make very frequent short trips in and out.
Extension Requirements and Documents
- Valid passport (6+ months validity)
- Existing Short-Term Visit Pass (STVP) still valid
- Online application via ICA e-Service (eservices.ica.gov.sg)
- Strong documented reason for extension (medical, family, business obligation)
- Supporting documents (medical letter, employer letter, etc.)
- Application processed online — no extension fee for tourist STVP extensions
Proceso de prórroga paso a paso
- Visit ICA e-Service portal
Go to eservices.ica.gov.sg and log in with your SingPass or use the foreign visitor extension option. - Submit extension request
Complete the online form, stating your reason for extension and uploading supporting documents. - Await ICA decision
ICA will process your application and notify you by email. Processing can take several working days. - If declined, plan your departure
If ICA declines the extension, you must depart before your current STVP expires. Consider crossing to Johor Bahru and re-entering for a fresh pass. - Collect approval (if granted)
If approved, an updated STVP will be issued. Confirm the new expiry date via the ICA portal.
Overstay Penalties — Important!
Singapore has zero tolerance for immigration overstays. Overstaying is a criminal offence punishable by up to 6 months' imprisonment and/or a fine. In addition, those who overstay will be banned from re-entering Singapore. Given Singapore's small size and highly digital immigration infrastructure, overstays are almost always detected at the airport on departure. ICA is known for strict enforcement. There are no exceptions — always depart or obtain an approved extension before your STVP expires.
