Schengen Visa for Russian Citizens 2026 — Requirements, Cost & How to Apply

Russian citizens require a Schengen visa to enter any of the 27 Schengen member states. As Russia is not part of the European Union or the Schengen Area, holders of a Russian passport must apply for a short-stay (Type C) visa before travelling to countries such as France, Germany, Italy or Spain.

The Schengen visa allows Russians to travel freely within the entire Schengen zone for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Applications are submitted to the embassy or consulate of the main destination country, or through an authorised visa application centre such as VFS Global.
